Tips for Self-Promotion

Lifehack has some excellent advice on how to promote yourself without being an ass. Because that’s many times how doing self-promotion is being perceived - because it’s not genuine relationsship building but more like relationsship mining.

As mentioned there is some good advice from the article. Some of it I find rather obvious. But this one is important in my book.

Don’t waste my time: If you’re on target, sensitive to context, and have permission, you’re halfway there on this one; but make sure to take no more time than you have to, and don’t beat around the bush. Once you have my attention, get to the point; be brief, be clear, and be passionate.

This is perhaps the most crucial point for a self-employed trying to get across: When you’re there, and everything has been lined up make sure you nail it by walking your talk.
