Sensing from the edge
I often get asked how I can live in Nyborg - a rather small rural town 160 km. from Copenhagen, where all the action is - and do what I do. My answer is usually that I would loose perspective on what I do, if I didn’t live some distance from the big city. And reading the latest post from Changeism make me think about the benefits of living on the edges again.
So what are the benefits? Two things first and foremost.
First of all I get to observe normal people. Not posh, over smart people with the latest devices (I do see lots of those in Copenhagen). Normal people. And it makes me conscious of the fact that if you want to do things with a great impact and to great scale, you have to think about how to serve normal people.
Second of all it gives me the peace and quiet to actually think and reflect over stuff. There’s just too much noise in the big city. Out here it’s pure signal. I highly recommend it.

What I said in several hundred words you captured well in a few! These are indeed two important reasons for being out on the edge and looking in. The center, or the big nodes, make enough noise to be heard elsewhere - the edges are somewhat quieter. Let’s organize an exchange to deepen experience! I’ll come to rural Denmark, you can try lush, green North Carolina…

Scott,
Just name the time and the place. Could be heaps of fun :-).
